Our energy & environmental economics expert network provides consulting and expert testimony in a variety of contexts regarding energy and the environment. Experts in our network have opined on issues regarding electric power, oil and natural gas, environmental impact studies, agriculture and commodities markets, and climate policy. Within these subject areas, Vega experts can apply their knowledge to numerous energy litigation topics including antitrust cases, market manipulation and price fixing, regulatory compliance, policy impact analysis, and valuation and damages analysis. We also work with our experts to apply sophisticated economic analyses and modeling techniques to litigation in energy markets.
Below is a list of example engagements for our Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources practice:
Financial Analysis for Renewable Energy Project Site: Vega Economics was retained by a direct air capture company to evaluate a pro-forma financial model for the bid to develop a renewable energy project site.
Standards and Practice of Business Negotiations in M&A Transactions: Vega Economics was retained to support Professor Guhan Subramanian at Harvard University in an arbitration brought by a company that owns and operates renewable energy facilities, including solar and wind assets, against a law firm. Professor Subramanian analyzed and opined on the standards and practice of business negotiations and addressing potential conflicts related to closing the underlying transaction.
Economic Benefits of Water Transfer: Vega was retained by Foulston to support Professor Stephen Hamilton in analyzing the benefits of changing water rights within Kansas municipalities. The Kansas Water Transfer Act requires an economic-impact analysis of statewide benefits for water transfers exceeding more than 2,000 acre-feet of water annually. This is the first water transfer application in Kansas meeting the threshold requiring such analysis.
