Vega experts are distinguished academic leaders with broad expertise in economic theory and its applications to labor and employment issues. Experts in our network have experience addressing labor dispute issues at the certification and damages phases of class action litigation. They also have experience testifying in matters regarding wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, benefits valuation, and executive compensation, as well as job classification and structures. Vega experts regularly apply economic and statistical modelling techniques to cases in these subject areas.
Below is a list of example engagements for our Labor & Employment practice:
Analysis of Retention of Customer Information by Loan Officers: Vega Economics’ experts Charles Grice and Lisa Murphy were retained by defense counsel in a case between two mortgage lenders. The plaintiff lender alleged that defendant targeted and unlawfully poached loan officers and staff from its operations, using trade secrets and proprietary customer information brought by the loan officers to capture and divert customer relationships.
Analysis of the Economics of Contracting in the U.S. Package Delivery Industry: Vega Economics and Professor Daniel Spulber were retained to analyze and provide opinions on the economics of contracting in the U.S. package delivery industry and its economic implications for individuals employed to drive for ISPs.
Rebuttal Analysis of Economic Losses Due to Employment Termination in Violation of ADEA: Dr. Wendy Stock was retained by a municipality in an employment discrimination case. Plaintiff alleged that the municipality constructively discharged him in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). Vega supported Dr. Stock to review and respond to Plaintiff’s expert’s calculations of economic losses.
