Frederico Finan

Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley

Federico Finan is an Associate Professor in the University of California, Berkeley department of Economics and at the Haas School of Business. He is also an affiliate of Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD), and a research fellow at IZA and National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He was previously an assistant professor at UCLA and a research analyst in the Federal Reserve System, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Studies Section. He has received numerous awards for his teaching, including being named best graduate student teacher in 2016.

Dr. Finan’s research interests include applied microeconomics, development economics and political economy. He has received numerous grants for his research, which has appeared in Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Econometrica, Review of Economics and Statistics, American Economic Review, Review of Development Economics, and Journal of Economics and Business.

Dr. Finan also has served on the editorial board and as an associate editor of numerous economic publications, including American Economic Journal – Applied, World Bank Economic Review, Journal of Political Economics, Economica, and Journal of Development Economics. He has received three awards for excellence in refereeing academic publications.

He holds a Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in Agricultural and Resource Economics.
