Jon Riddle, Ph.D., has worked as a professional economist for over 30 years, first for predecessors of Deloitte LLP and then for ECONOMIC ASSOCIATES.
Dr. Riddle has provided expert opinions on a wide range of engagements for private attorneys, state attorneys general, the Internal Revenue Service, labor unions, and trade associations. These investigations have included antitrust (market definition, structure, conduct, harm, overcharges, and damages), mergers (market definition, structure, harm to competition, mitigating effects), health care (market structure, contracts, non-contracted payments, charges, and reimbursement policies), the pharmaceutical industry (market structure, merger effects, and prices), and valuation and damages. Recent engagements include State of California, et al. v. Samsung SDI, Co. Ltd, et al. (price fixing in CRT markets), State of California v. EBay, Inc., et al. (anticompetitive hiring practices in technology labor markets), In re: TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation (price fixing in flat panel display markets), and San Joaquin General Hospital v. Aetna Health of California, Inc. et al. (payments for non-contracted health care, reasonable and customary charges, 28 CCR 1300.71 (a)(3)(B) ("Gould" factors) payments).
Dr. Riddle has testified in state and federal courts and before legislative bodies. He has taught health economics at University of California Los Angeles and economic theory, corporate finance, and investments at the graduate and undergraduate levels at University of California Santa Barbara.
Dr. Riddle holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California Santa Barbara.
